In October 2005 we were invited to Graceland In Memphis, Tn. To do a birthday cake for "the
King of Rock&Roll" Elvis Presely!! It was for the television series Food network Challenge. We
had 7 hours to create a cake worthy of the man himself. We had a blast and my son and I
finished 2nd. We decided to try and take a different approach to the cake than we knew others
would. The board was created by my son Mike in advance and featured the Hollywood walk of
fame star, and the score to "Heartbreak Hotel" Elvis' first #1 hit all hand painted and sculpted by
hand. Our design featured A hound dog "obviously" a Beal street sign, the street where Elvis got
his start. The Dog is chewing on a blue sued shoe, while tied to a ball and chain (jail house
rock), and much more. The show took place inside the automotive museum, It was a BLAST!!!
And yes its all cake!
