Zebra Purse
We start with two (frozen) square sheet cakes,
trim them smooth and stick them together as
you would a layer cake.  Stand it up on end
and shape it with a sharp knife.

Ice the cake as you would any other cake,  it
doesn't have to be terribly smooth as we are
going to cover it anyway.
Prepare the fondant, by
kneading it in to a ball with
enough material to cover the
planned area.  I have learned
from my son to cover cakes
like this in pieces.  I used to
cover them like I would any
other in one piece...  But this
method makes a lot more
sense.  A purse is made from
several pieces, so will this
cake be.
Rolling the prepared ball into a
sheet
Be sure to moisten the cake
with a spray bottle of water
before fondant
I use a small "pizza" cutter to
trim off the excess
Be sure to wet the back of
each stripe with a wet brush.
Make sure you put it where
you want it as its nearly
impossible to move once
"stuck".

Kneading fondant,  be sure to
use corn starch!!!
I first cut the sides and top of
the purse.
After applying the sides and
top,  the front is put on
Be sure to add details as the
fondant is laid into place
Tip:
For the black zebra stripes:
prepare black fondant and cut
it into shape with your trimmer
